Record Store Day was good to me. Spent a few hours around noon at the Artform Studio in DTLA & came up on some joints. It was a good time, a lotta heavyweights in the house. After that, I went and played Jazz records at the Last Bookstore for a couple hours. Good times all around.
Cannonball Adderley - “Love, Sex & The Zodiac”. Lazy Sunday, Scorpio style.
Cannonball, my fav Jazz dude, on a lazy Friday evening.
Cannonball Adderley ‘Black Messiah’ shirt. Fresh.
Adderley/Axelrod. All there is to it.
As long as our gov’t is spending billions of dollars a year on police actions to control a flower and the people that happen to dry and smoke it, and at the same time spending billions of dollars a year in locking up “offenders” (most of the time being minorities, who are locked up at much higher rate for the same offense than whites) draining our state, local and federal tax reserves to build prisons to do so while schools and communities suffer, then I say LET THAT MAHF#%^A BURN.
I have a lot to learn about human nature, I guess because having been a teacher, I may or may not have been a good teacher, but I knew what I wanted to teach; I knew how I wanted my people to be able to play, and I never discriminated within music. Because music is only one thing, There is music out there, and it’s up to us to grab it.
